Injection planned for Rangers’ Josh Hamilton’s sore knee

With a majors-best .361 batting average, about the only person who seems capable of stopping Josh Hamilton(notes) this season is Josh Hamilton.
He hasn't been stopped yet but he is being slowed by a cranky right knee. Hamilton was scheduled to receive an injection of lubricant—Synvisc, to be medically precise —- in his right knee after Tuesday's game at Kansas City.

Manager Ron Washington said he plans to sit Hamilton on football jerseys
Wednesday and return him to the lineup Friday at Toronto after the Rangers' off day on Thursday. Hamilton also figures to sit at least one of the Rangers' four games on the turf in Toronto.
If all goes well, the latest injection will allow Hamilton to make it through the rest of the season. But that is far from certain.
Hamilton already has had two cortisone shots in the knee this season as well as a Synvisc injection in April. The Rangers are hoping to avoid a third cortisone shot but Hamilton sounds like it is inevitable.
"The key is waiting as long as possible (for another cortisone injection)," he said before Tuesday's game. "If I can wait another week and a half or two weeks, it'd be a great thing."
Hamilton said he is not planning an MRI exam until after the season. "I don't want to know," he said, admitting that offseason surgery is Buccaneers #99 jersey
a possibility.
While Hamilton says the discomfort hinders his running but not his hitting, he still plans to limit his swings in batting practice. "Save it for the game," he said.
Hamilton was scheduled to start Monday's game in center field but was switched to DH after he talked to Washington following batting practice. Hamilton then went out and collected two hits to his majors-leading total, and he added more two while DH-ing Tuesday night.
Washington says he's not concerned about his slugger but the Rangers traded for outfielder Jeff Francoeur(notes) on Tuesday night. Assistant GM Thad Levine said the move was unrelated to Hamilton's ailing knee but Francoeur provides insurance just in case.
Vlad Guerrero started in the outfield the past two games and provided enough adventures to show why he's a regular DH.
When Francoeur plays, the Rangers will have to sit one of nfl jersey sale
their best bats, Hamilton or Guerrero.
Hamilton is just looking to make it through a season the Rangers hope lasts another two months. Can he hold up? "I've been praying I do," he said. "And I hope you'll be praying I do."
