Source: Cameron Sheffield released from hospital

Kansas City Chiefs rookie linebacker Cameron Sheffield(notes) has been released from the hospital after being carted off the field with a neck injury Friday night, according to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation.

The fifth-round draft pick from football jersey Troy was injured during a helmet-to-helmet collision with Philadelphia Eagles running back Mike Bell(notes).
“I just wanted to make sure that everyone’s thoughts and prayers out there are with Cameron,” Chiefs coach Todd Haley told reporters after the game. “We’ve had two of those situations in two weeks and, again, I know the guys are all praying for him and his family that everything turns out in a good way.
“Right now I don’t have any information that I feel real comfortable giving, because there are a lot of people out there that are family and friends of Cameron’s and I don’t want to say something that ends up being wrong. I just want to make sure that he and his family know that the Kansas City Chiefs are praying for him.”
Earlier this summer, the Chiefs signed Sheffield to a four-year, $1.98 million contract that nfl football jerseys included a roster bonus slightly over $194,000.
A converted defensive end, Sheffield registered 163 career tackles and 15 sacks in college.
The 6-foot-2, 257—pounder played in the Senior Bowl all-star game.
He was twice named All-Sun Belt Conference.
